- I'm running BC++ 4.51 under win95. I would have waited for 5.0 to come
- out, but the box said "FREE Windows 95 update for Borland C++ when
- windows 95 is shipped!" (obviously, I bought it before the release of
- win95). It also says see inside for details (in other words, BUY ME). I
- bought it and the little leaflet inside said the same thing in larger
- letters (along with telling me to register so I can obtain me FREE
- update). I want to write apps for win95, but it is mainly the old file
- open, save, save as dialog boxes that are annoying me (no long file name
- support).
-
- One rather serious problem I am having is that dialogs created in
- resource workshop are too large during run-time. I simply use app expert
- to create an application using a dialog client as the main window.
- AppExpert creates a small window a little larger than a common dialog box
- with an OK and cancel button (I think). When I compile and run it, the
- window is almost 3X the proper size. It does this when I create my own
- windows also. Is this a 4.51 <-> win95 conflict or am I doing something
- wrong (I didn't write 1 line of code in the test app)?

- Has anyone seen this claim (free update) and can tell if Borland just all
- of a sudden changed their mind (yes, I registered). They know I exist
- because I keep getting pamplets in the mail to buy more Borland stuff. I
- don't know anything about 5.0 other than it is for win95 (borland's web site
- doesn't seem to be working). I e-mailed Borland months ago and have not
- received any response. I think that it is fraud if Borland makes a claim
- like that and not follows through on it. I had a really high opinion
- about Borland's software but that is rapidly going downhill.
-
- Thanks for reading,
- Rex
